Lupin Part 4 on Netflix: Part 3 Recap, What Happens Next and What Else to Stream This Weekend

Lupin Part 4

Three years is a long time to leave a gentleman thief in a prison cell. Lupin Part 4 finally arrives on Netflix today, Friday 23 October 2026, with all eight episodes dropping at once. Omar Sy is back as Assane Diop, and this time he is also co-running the show alongside director Louis Leterrier, which is a good sign for anyone worried the French hit might have lost its spark.

If your memory of how Part 3 ended is a little hazy, here is a quick recap, what we know about the new episodes, and what else is worth streaming this weekend. The recap section contains spoilers for Part 3, but nothing beyond the official synopsis for Part 4.

Lupin Part 3 recap: how it ended

Part 3 was the season where Assane’s double life finally caught up with him. After returning to Paris and spending the season trying to protect his mother, his son Raoul and his former partner Claire, the walls kept closing in. By the finale, his loyal friend Benjamin Ferel had been arrested, and Assane faced a choice between his own freedom and his friend’s.

He chose Ben. In the final episode, Assane surrendered to police officer Youssef Guedira, the detective who had spent years piecing together his methods. Before turning himself in, he left a letter for Claire, and his sacrifice led to Ben being released.

That final prison scene

The last moments set up Part 4 neatly. In prison, Assane’s cell had been stocked with Maurice Leblanc’s Arsene Lupin novels, a small nod from someone who clearly knew him well. Then a guard handed him an envelope from his “neighbour.” Inside was an old photograph of a young Assane holding a copy of The Cagliostro’s Revenge, one of the Lupin novels. Whoever sent it knew exactly where Assane came from.

The obvious suspect is Hubert Pellegrini, the wealthy businessman who framed Assane’s father and has been the series’ great villain since the first episode. Whether the note came from him or someone else entirely is one of the questions the new season is expected to answer.

What happens in Lupin Part 4

Netflix’s official synopsis picks things up with Assane still behind bars and, surprisingly, at peace with it. He wants to serve his sentence and then start a new life in Senegal with Raoul. That plan collapses when a copycat calling himself Lupin announces a series of simultaneous museum heists across Paris.

Worse still, camera footage appears to show “Assane” himself at the scene when Captain Sofia Belkacem is seriously injured. Framed for something he did not do, he has one option left: break out and become Lupin again to clear his name and find the impostor. It is a classic Lupin setup, turning the hero’s own legend against him, and it suits the show’s habit of making Assane outthink everyone in the room.

The four-year time jump

Part 4 jumps forward four years, and that brings one big casting change. Raoul, Assane’s son, is now played by Theo Christine, reflecting the character’s age. That opens the door to a different kind of father-son story, one where Raoul is old enough to have opinions about his father’s choices.

Who is in the cast

Most of the familiar faces are back. Alongside Omar Sy, the returning cast includes:

  • Ludivine Sagnier as Claire
  • Antoine Gouy as Benjamin Ferel
  • Soufiane Guerrab as Youssef Guedira
  • Shirine Boutella as Sofia Belkacem
  • Herve Pierre as Hubert Pellegrini
  • Clotilde Hesme as Juliette Pellegrini

Laika Blanc-Francard joins the cast for the new season. You can find the full list, along with first-look photos, on Netflix’s official Lupin Part 4 page.

Questions we want answered

Three threads stand out going in. First, who is the copycat, and how do they know Assane’s methods well enough to impersonate him? Second, where does Pellegrini fit now, given that mysterious envelope? And third, what happens to Assane’s relationship with Claire and Raoul after four years apart? The best Lupin seasons have tied the heist plot back to family, so expect at least one of those answers to hurt.

Is it worth the wait?

It is too early for a firm verdict, but the setup is promising. Lupin has always been at its best when Assane is the underdog, and you do not get much more underdog than a man in prison accused of a crime someone else committed in his name. The copycat angle is also a smart way to explore what the Lupin legend means to Paris after everything Assane has done. Eight episodes is a comfortable weekend binge, and the show’s fast pace makes it easy to watch three or four in one sitting. One small tip: watch it in the original French with subtitles if you can. The English dub is fine, but Sy’s performance loses a lot in translation.

What else is streaming this weekend

Lupin is the headline, but it is far from the only new arrival. Here is what else is worth a look.
